Until the New Year, Happy Holidays

It doesn’t feel like the holidays to me.  The culmination of Copenhagen, the ongoing health care policy debate, a police officer pulling a gun at a snowball fight – honestly, I don’t know how I feel about everything right now.  But I joined some friends singing Christmas carols yesterday, and the glow of holiday lights around my neighborhood is further evidence that it is, indeed, that time of year.

I’ll be pressing pause on Openly Balanced starting about two hours from now, when I pick my family up at the airport.  I’m going to take some of my own advice and take a break to recharge, catch up on some reading, writing and (yay) eating.  I’m hoping that the holidays will give me a chance to unwind, process and digest the information overload of the last several weeks.  And, most importantly, I’ll be spending time with my family, who have chosen to celebrate the holidays at my house this year!

I’d like to wish all of you happy holidays.  Whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year, be it religious, seasonal, secular, or commercial, may it be filled with light, laughter and love.  I’ll be back on January 1st, and look forward to connecting with all of you throughout the brilliant new year!
